"Bobby, Danny & Atlanta Tim: An American Serial Killer"
BossaNova Media has acquired the worldwide rights to premium crime documentary "Bobby, Danny & Atlanta Tim: An American Serial Killer" (2x60 mins) through a new partnership with UK indie Revolutionary Leader. The gripping two-part documentary, which launched internationally at MIPCOM, tells the chilling story of Steven Lorenzo and Scott Schweickert who, over a 48-hour period in 2003, drugged, tortured and murdered two gay men at Lorenzo’s home in Tampa, Florida.
Lorenzo had previously kidnapped and raped countless men in the run-up to the gruesome events of December 2003. In 2023, Lorenzo — having been convicted in 2005 to 200 years in jail for drugging and raping men — was finally sentenced to death for the murders of Jason Glenhouse and Michael Wachholtz, while Schweickert, who ultimately agreed to testify against Lorenzo, continues to serve a life sentence.
"Bobby, Danny & Atlanta Tim: An American Serial Killer" gives a voice to the Tampa LGBTQ+ community, which was traumatised by the murders. But most importantly, it pays tribute to the mothers of Glenhouse and Wachholtz, who fought for justice for 20 years as they struggled to come to terms with their sons’ horrific murders.
Claire Runham, head of acquisitions at BossaNova, said: “We’re honoured that Revolutionary Leader has entrusted us with this incredible — and incredibly well told — crime doc, which we know will enthral audiences from around the world. We work tirelessly to unearth true-crime stories, particularly those that have redemptive justice at their core, and this documentary hits that mark. We very excited to reveal 'Bobby, Danny & Atlanta Tim: An American Serial Killer' to our global community of buyers.”
PREMIUM CRIME SLATE
"Bobby, Danny & Atlanta Tim: An American Serial Killer" joins BossaNova Original "The Flight Attendant Murders" on its premium crime slate. The 4 x 60 mins series, produced by award-winning Flicker Productions, explores the murders of four flight attendants who were brutally murdered in Texas during the 1970s and 1980s, and asks whether an innocent man was incarcerated for four decades while a sadistic killer walked free.
A project born of BossaNova’s 2023 Development Day pitching event, "The Flight Attendant Murders" has now been acquired by ZDF in Germany and Bell Media in Canada. Earlier this year, it was picked up by Sundance Now in the US, and Foxtel Group and SBS in Australia.
