Cineflix Rights secures presales for Finestripe’s "The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld"

Cineflix Rights has acquired international rights to feature documentary "The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld" from Finestripe Productions, which premiered on BBC Two on 26 April, and has presold the film to Prime Video Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. “We’ve had a lot of success with Finestripe’s previous documentaries appealing to buyers around the world, so we’re thrilled to be partnering again with them on another high quality, access driven blue-chip film," Catherine McCormick, VP Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights, said. "Karl Lagerfeld is such a recognisable, global icon who fascinates audiences and we’re already seeing a lot of international demand—as evidenced already with Prime Video’s early commitment to the film.”

The deal with Prime Video for "The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld" was brokered by Lucinda Gergley-Garner, SVP, Sales, North America and German Speaking Territories, Cineflix Rights. “We have amazing access to contributors from Karl Lagerfeld’s inner circle who have never spoken before and who have generously opened up their personal archive to us," Lorraine McKechnie, Executive Producer for Finestripe Productions said. "Lagerfeld was an iconic figure people think they know, but in fact they don’t. This film reveals the real man behind the sunglasses for the very first time.”

Produced by Finestripe Productions for BBC Two, UK, the film has received positive feedbakc from critics, who describe it as “Poignant and preposterous, decadent and delightful” by The Sunday Times, “A playful portrait of an extravagant eccentric” by Sunday Telegraph, and “Surprisingly revealing” by Daily Mail.
