CINEFLIX STUDIOS NAMES SONIA HOSKO AS VICE PRESIDENT, CURRENT

Cineflix Studios is strenghtening its scripted production team by naming Producer Sonia Hosko as Vice President for Current. “Sonia is a wonderful person who possesses an impressive track record of producing high quality, long-running series that have been huge hits domestically and internationally,”  Brett Burlock, SVP, Scripted, Cineflix Studios said. 

Hosko will oversee production on Cineflix Studios content and work alongside co-production partners. Prioritizing the Canadian region, she will source and develop scripted series through her ties with writers, showrunners, and producers. Based in Toronto, Sonia will report to Brett Burlock, SVP. “Significantly expanding our scripted business with content partners, streamers, and broadcasters in Canada and beyond is at the heart of Cineflix Studio’s growth strategy—Sonia’s relationships, commitment to inclusion, and creative sensibilities will be instrumental in helping us deliver on that goal,” Burlock said.

The newly created role will support the expansion of Cineflix Studios’ scripted activities, building on successes such as long-running crime procedural series "Coroner" on CBC/The CW Network/Sky Witness and NBCUniversal International Networks,  "Wynonna Earp" SYFY/CTV Sci-Fi and NBCUniversal International Networks around the world, the second season of hit espionage drama "Tehran" on Apple TV+/Kan 11, and "Pure" on WGNA/Hulu/Super Channel, as well as other projects in development.  

Hosko served as co-executive producer on the hit series "Saving Hope" on CTV and Ion and "Rookie Blue" on ABC and Global. She was also co-executive producer on "The Detail" on CTV, Ion and "Burden of Truth" on CBC. Hosko was a producer, writer, and director on the anthology of short films Little Films About Big Moments in HBO Canada, and her other credits include working on major feature films such as Sarah Polley's “Away from Her,” Brian De Palma's Redacted, and “Atom Egoyan's Adoration.” Hosko is a co-creator of the Lexa Pledge, which promotes writing positive LGBTQ+ storylines. “Cineflix Studios has a growing reputation as a major producer of critically acclaimed content that is playing out successfully to audiences worldwide,” Hosko said. “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Cineflix and to have this opportunity to work with Brett, Peter, and the talented production teams behind the company’s amazing shows.”
