Cineflix Studios has signed a partnership deal with December Films, the Canadian scripted producer of "Reginald the Vampire," for the new ten-part series "Carpe Demon" from showrunner Emily Andras, currently in development for Paramount+ Canada. “We are thrilled to be working with Cineflix Media. Their enthusiasm for our slate and incredible support on Reginald the Vampire make this partnership an obvious fit," Julie DiCresce and Todd Berger, Founders, December Films said. "We share a mutual focus on strong market-driven creative that appeals to a global audience. We believe that we are well positioned to deliver high quality content at the right price point for networks and streaming services around the world."

The first-look deal builds on the existing co-production relationship between Cineflix Studios and December Films on "Reginald the Vampire," in its second season for Syfy, Hulu, and CTV Sci-Fi. It gives Cineflix Studios the first option to co-produce original content developed by December Films, with Cineflix Rights having first-look international distribution rights to content co-produced through the partnership. “'Reginald the Vampire' has been a big international success for us, so we’re really pleased to have the opportunity to distribute more great projects from December Films through this deal," James Durie, Head of Scripted, Cineflix Rights said.

"Carpe Demon" is a one-hour genre series based on the best-selling novels by Julie Kenner about a frazzled suburban Mom with a loving husband, two kids, and one massive secret: she used to be a "Demon Hunter." Out of practice and overwhelmed, she has no choice but to get back in the game when her supernatural past comes calling.  "Todd and Julie have an incredibly exciting development slate, which we think has massive international potential," Emerson said. "We look forward to working with them more closely going forward and are delighted to be kicking things off with Emily Andras and Carpe Demon for Paramount+ Canada.”

In addition to" Reginald the Vampire," December Films has numerous projects in active development with broadcasters in Canada , the UK, and the US. Berger is also an EP on the Apple TV+ series "Circuit Breakers" and "Miss Scarlet and the Duke" for PBS and UKTV. He recently was EP of Wynonna Earp for Syfy and Bell Media, and Diggstown for the CBC. On the film side, the company is in post-production on "Out Come the Wolves" for IFC Films, Altitude Films, and Level Film and romantic comedy feature film "Bootcamp," based on the Wattpad novel.

Cineflix Studios’ first-look deal with December Films is one of Cineflix Media’s creative partnerships and joint ventures in North America and Europe, including Toronto-based Husk Media, BentFrame Film and TV, Montreal-based Connect3 Media, and London and Glasgow-based Buccaneer.“We are excited to be building on our successful partnership—and long friendship—with this first-look deal. In an ever-evolving marketplace, Todd possesses an uncanny ability to transform challenges into opportunities," Peter Emerson, President, Cineflix Media, said.
