The new budget of 2.24 billion euros for the Creative Europe programme 2021-2027 has been confirmed. The implementation of the program, dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative sector, is expected – as evident – for the beginning of 2021 and will run until 2027.
The negotiators of the European Parliament and the EU Council met last Monday, led for the European Parliament by the Chair of the Culture Committee of the EP Sabine Verheyen (PPE) and European Parliament Rapporteur for Creative Europe 2021-2027 Massimiliano Smeriglio (S&D).
Smeriglio declared: “Excellent news for Europe and for Italy. 2.2 billion euros in seven years for the cultural sectors, for cinema and media, for creative productions. An important and completely new opening for the music sector and an unprecedented attention to social inclusion”.
Creative Europe is the flagship program in support of the cultural and creative sectors, and the only one in the European Union specifically designed for this. With a total budget of 2.4 billion euros, the new program will continue to promote European cultural and linguistic diversity. It will help artists, creators, cultural professionals and organizations to cooperate and co-create beyond borders, reaching new audiences, addressing the social challenges of the moment, and supporting their training.
