ECCHO RIGHTS ACQUIRES NEW OGM PICTURES DRAMA "THE RED ROOM"

The new title is quite different for a Turkish Drama; not just a classical romance, but a deeper, more psychological drama that the producers have created to push a meaningful discussion in society about the long term effects of what we live through growing up.

Eccho Rights have added brand new drama series "The Red Room" to its distribution catalogue. Produced by OGM Pictures in Turkey, the series has debuted on TV8 on Friday 4th September, topping the ratings in the AB commercial demo with 19% share.

"The Red Room" takes place in a therapist's office in Istanbul. Vulnerable women pass through to get treatment and handle their traumas and problems. Based on the real experiences of famed psychiatrist and writer Dr Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu, the episodes are built around the harrowing stories of the patients, while at the centre of the drama is the team of therapists in the clinic and their own personal issues.

“This is an important series that will speak to women - and men - around the world who can relate to the issues faced by those entering the clinic, as well as the personal stories of the staff that we see developing over the course of the series,” says Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.

Producer Onur Günetanam says "In this series, we will show our audience the effects of childhood experiences, and the way they can shape our future. We are against all physical, sexual, and psychological violence. But no country in the world can prevent violence with laws because violence is a bad behaviour, acquired during childhood, that turns into a habit over time.”

"The Red Room" stars Binnur Kaya, Tülin Özen, Burak Sevinç, Meriç Aral, Halit Özgür Sarı and is directed by Cem Karcı and represents the second collaboration between Eccho Rights and OGM Pictures who together launched hit series "My Home My Destiny" on the international market earlier this year.
