Eccho Rights has completed the sales of Turkish drama series “Wounded Birds” and “Cennet” to Imagen, one of the leading Mexican broadcasters.

"At Imagen we are proud to acquire the best in international television for our audience and these two premium titles from Turkey represent further diversity in our line-up, while also serving the public what they want: quality, relatable, emotional stories that keep viewers coming back,"  said Erick Pulido, Programming Director at Imagen.

“Wounded Birds,” which is produced by Stellar Yapim for Kanal D in Turkey, has already scored significant ratings in Latin America, with Telemundo in Puerto Rico and Caracol in Colombia reporting top viewing figures having been amongst the first international buyers for the first two seasons of the series.

The show tells the story of Meryem, a strong, beautiful young woman who has spent the past five years raising her adopted brother, Ömer. Determined to keep him off the streets, Meryem works night and day to make a good, decent life for them both. Little does she know that the young boy is the son of an influential industrialist and was kidnapped in a power struggle over control of the family empire. The link back to the world of his biological father brings their adventure to a start, as the two are unexpectedly reunited with Levent, a man who thought he would never see his son again.

“Broadcasters in Latin America have been taking notice of the success that ‘Wounded Birds’ has enjoyed in the region, and we are seeing an increase in buyer interest in the market for this long running, romantic series,”  said Lisa Wegscheider, Sales and Acquisitions Executive for LATAM and Iberia at international distributor Eccho Rights.

On the other hand, “Cennet” is a worldwide hit, sold to more than 40 territories globally, that scored huge ratings for ATV in Turkey during 2018. It tells the story of a woman who has been abandoned as a baby, and has struggled bravely through life, desperate for the motherly love she has missed out on. When she graduates and lands a dream job at an architecture firm, she is unexpectedly reunited with her birth mother, who in turn starts to believe that Cennet’s appearance is no coincidence – and reacts not with maternal affection, but a plan to get rid of her from her life.

“‘Cennet’ continues to be one of the most popular titles in our catalogue, already sold to a huge number of broadcasters across Europe and Asia, and now making waves across Latin America as well,”  concluded Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.
