FilmRise distributes Peacock Original series “Departure” in the US

The drama series stars Archie Panjabi and Christopher Plummer follows investigator Kendra Malley and her team, as they investigate a series of mass transportation disasters.

FilmRise picks up the U.S. distribution rights to the Peacock Original series “Departure” stars award-winning actors Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife”) and Christopher Plummer (“Beginners”), who won two Canadian Screen Awards for his performances in seasons one and two of the series.

“Departure” (18x60) is a suspense drama series produced by Shaftesbury, in association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Entertainment and Red Arrow Studios International for Global (Canada) and ran for two seasons as a Peacock Original in the US.

The high-octane conspiracy series follows a brilliant but haunted accident investigator Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi) and her team, including her complicated mentor Howard Lawson (Christopher Plummer, in the first two seasons), as they investigate a series of mass transportation disasters. Season one centers on the mysterious disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean, season two dissects a high-speed train derailment on the US-Canada border, and season three delves into the sinking of a ferry off the coast of Newfoundland, whose frigid waters are hiding more than just icebergs.
