"Has#tag Homicide," Big Media’s latest true-crime series exploring crimes planned, committed, or solved through social media, has been acquired by Independent content producer, distributor and and Fast channel provider, FilmRise, and British TV channel operator UKTV. Currently in production and slated for delivery in Q4 this year, the series has been generating strong interest and pre-sales. The acquisition was announced today by Big Media’s president and co-founder, Danny Wilk.

“The impact of social media on our lives and its potential to be exploited by bad actors has become an irrefutable part of modern society. In 'Has#tag Homicide' we look at how online predators and scammers have preyed on victims by hiding behind the friendly veil of social media, luring the unsuspecting followers and friends into some very dark places. It’s a phenomenon that is relatively new, but has become increasingly ubiquitous,” notes Danny Wilk. “Once again, we are happy to be working with FilmRise to represent this series and are equally pleased to have UKTV on board for this soon-to-be global hit series.”

Jonitha Keymoore, Head of Content for FilmRise states: “At FilmRise, we are committed to bringing audiences compelling, thought-provoking true crime stories that reflect the evolving digital landscape. 'Has#tag Homicide' is a gripping exploration of how social media intersects with real-life criminal investigations, uncovering the dark side of the online world. We are excited to partner with UKTV and further strengthen our collaboration with BIG Media to bring this powerful series to audiences."

Melanie Rumani, Global Head of Acquisitions for UKTV and BBC Studios, said"'Has#tag Homicide' promises to bring true crime fans a fascinating double perspective on how social media is impacting both how crimes are perpetrated and investigated in the modern digital world. We’re delighted to be partnering with FilmRise and BIG Media in bringing the series to viewers on U and U&W."

FilmRise, which has distributed other Big Media originals such as the popular "Truthseekers series," has acquired exclusive rights in all media to "Has#tag Homicide" for the US and Canada.  In addition, UKTV has licensed the series for its branded free-to-air entertainment channel U&W, which is available in the UK on Sky, Virgin Media, Freeview, Freesat and Freely, and in Ireland on Virgin Media, Eir and Vodafone, and streaming service U.

"Has#tag Homicide" (8x60’) explores the dark intersection of social media and true crime, where the virtual world becomes the stage for murder, investigation, and justice. The series begins with the first clue—a like, post, tweet, or comment—unveiling the chain of events that led to a tragic crime. The second act dives into the investigation, following detectives and online sleuths as they decode digital footprints and piece together the puzzle. In the final act, justice unfolds as social media evidence brings the perpetrators to light. Blending drama and real-life intrigue, "Has#tag Homicide" reveals how the digital age is reshaping the pursuit of truth.

As previously announced, "Has#tag Homicide" has also been sold to RTL Deutschland’s NTV channel in Germany.  The FilmRise deal was negotiated by Danny Wilk president and Co-Founder of Big Media and Cristina Guggino, Director, Unscripted at FilmRise.
