Globo has signed an agreement with Telemedios to bring four of its major hits to "Channel 8", one of the leading free-to-air TV channels in the Dominican Republic: "Brazil Avenue" (Avenida Brasil), "Trail of Lies", "Total Dreamer", and "Time After Time". All four telenovelas are scheduled to premiere on September 1.

“We are very happy with this alliance with Telemedios, which marks the restart of the broadcast of our telenovelas in the Dominican Republic. We believe in the potential of Brazilian productions, which present universal elements capable of connecting with audiences around the world, stories of love, family drama, revenge, and overcoming challenges. We hope the Dominican audience will be moved, entertained, and engaged with our stories,” said Juliana Souza, Content Distribution & Partnerships at Globo.

“We are very excited about this partnership with Globo, which marks a new chapter for Channel 8. We want Channel 8 to become the home of Brazilian telenovelas in the Dominican Republic, and the quality of Globo’s productions, along with their strong connection to Latin American audiences, is key to strengthening our programming. We believe this agreement will be a great success and bring positive results for both parties,” said J. Armando Bermúdez M., CEO of Telemedios, and César Hernández, General Director.

This agreement marks Globo’s return to the Dominican territory, following its last presence in 2021. The programming will be divided between prime time and afternoon slots: "Brazil Avenue" and "Trail of Lies" will air during the channel’s prime time, while "Total Dreamer" and "Time After Time" will be broadcast in the afternoon.

"Brazil Avenue", by João Emanuel Carneiro, aired in 2012 during Globo’s prime time and remains a phenomenon not only in Brazilian television: the show has already been licensed to over 140 territories and was nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela. Recently, the production received its first international adaptation: "Leyla", in Turkey.

"Total Dreamer", by Rosane Svartman, was also nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela. The story is a modern fairy tale set against the glamorous backdrop of a women’s fashion magazine.

From International Emmy winner Walcyr Carrasco, "Trail of Lies" is a classic plot filled with family intrigue, power struggles, and charismatic characters that captivated Brazilian audiences. Meanwhile, "Time After Time", by Elizabeth Jhin, blends romance, drama, and spiritual elements, divided into two phases separated by more than a century.
