Movistar Plus+ International, the distribution division of Spain’s Movistar Plus+ platform, has consolidated its global footprint through a series of international distribution and co-production agreements spanning Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The announcement was made during the fifth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria. Created in 2022 to lead the international rollout of the platform’s original fiction catalog, Movistar Plus+ International has since positioned itself as a key player in premium Spanish-language content export. The company has now confirmed major partnerships with leading broadcasters and platforms including ARTE France, Disney+, RAI, Channel 4, and LG, reflecting growing demand for Spanish-produced drama.

ARTE France has emerged as one of Movistar Plus+’s most prominent collaborators. The French cultural broadcaster is currently co-producing “Killing a Bear,” created by Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo and starring Eduard Fernández, María Rodríguez Soto, and Àlex Monner. ARTE is also involved in “The Anatomy of a Moment,” directed by Alberto Rodríguez and premiering in Spain on 20 November, featuring Álvaro Morte and Manolo Solo. Additionally, ARTE will premiere “The New Years” by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and already carries “La Mesías” and “Querer,” both of which have achieved strong audience results.

In Latin America, two high-profile series—“The Nameless” and “Marbella”—have been picked up by Disney+. “The Nameless,” created by Pau Freixas and Pol Cortecans and starring Miren Ibarguren, Rodrigo de la Serna, and Milena Smit, premiered on 10 September. “Marbella,” by Dani de la Torre and Alberto Marini, features Hugo Silva. In Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, Flow TV and its streaming platform have acquired “Galgos,” “Querer,” and “Second Death.”

In Europe, Movistar Plus+ International’s content is available across a wide array of platforms. RAI in Italy has premiered “The New Years” via RaiPlay. In the UK, Channel 4’s Walter Presents offers “Hierro” (two seasons), “Marbella,” and “Second Death.” Greek platform Cinobo carries five titles, including “Riot Police,” “La Canción,” and “Offworld.” Portugal’s NOS Lusomundo has picked up “La Mesías,” “Marbella,” and “The New Years.” Italy’s My Movies One and Lithuania’s public broadcaster LRT also distribute “La Mesías.” Turkey’s TRT broadcasts four series, including “Riot Police,” “The Left-Handed Son,” and “Hierro.”

A notable achievement is Movistar Plus+’s breakthrough into the Asian market, historically resistant to European drama. An agreement with LG in South Korea has brought nine titles to the platform, including “Riot Police,” “Offworld,” “Fine Arts,” and both seasons of “Out of Tone.”

These multi-territory deals demonstrate Movistar Plus+’s growing influence in the international content market and underscore the broad appeal of its high-quality Spanish originals. Through sustained collaboration with global broadcasters and platforms, the company continues to strengthen its role as a leading exporter of Spanish-language scripted content.
