Hackman Capital Partners and its affiliate The MBS Group, and Square Mile Capital Management, announce the acquisition of two world-renowned film and television studios in Ireland, Ardmore Studios and Troy Studios. The facilities were purchased from Olcott Entertainment.
Though the exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was agreed that both popular Irish studios will continue to operate with their existing branding, with no reported changes in staff and Elaine Geraghty remaining as CEO. “We are delighted to have Hackman Capital Partners, Square Mile Capital and The MBS Group join the Irish screen content production community,” Ardmore Studios and Troy Studios CEO Elaine Geraghty said.
The studios serve as an addition to Hackman, MBS, and Square’s current list of locations. The companies manage the largest studio and media portfolio in the world, consisting of over 360 soundstages in 60 locations across 46 cities and four countries, bringing its media assets to a total of €3.6 Billion. “Ireland is a superb destination for production, with the richness of its natural landscape, its indigenous content industry and its skilled production crews,” Michael Hackman, CEO of Hackman Capital Partners, said in a statement.
The film facilities offer 100,000 square feet of stage space and an additional 250,000 square feet of production support space. Ardmore Studios across 18 acres of land has 140,000 square feet of sound stages and another 160,000 square feet of support buildings. The sale eliminates concerns that the properties would be acquired by property developers and be transformed into other business types.
The most recent titles filmed on the Irish sound stages include Ridley Scott’s historical epic “The Last Duel,” AppleTV+’s “Foundation” and Netflix’s “Winx.” “We look forward to building upon this great history and are committed to growing both indigenous and international production activity in Ireland, by investing in and forging strong links with local talent and communities and by promoting further inward investment from international content creators,” Hackman said.
