Jellyfish Pictures has hired Elena Wurlitzer as a development producer for the animated series and features at its children’s and family arm, Jellyfish Originals.“Elena is a stellar addition to the Jellyfish Originals team – her vast experience across TV development, screenwriting, and production for major networks will grow and advance our slate of high-end, creator-driven kids’ and family IP," Jellyfish MD of animation and originals Natalie Llewellyn said.
Under her new role, Wurlitzer will be tasked with creating and developing IP with the help of Jellyfish's in-house directors, art department, and creative team, as well as acquiring external IP and working with coproduction and commercial partners. The appointment forms part of the UK-based visual effects and animation studio's plan to leverage and further develop its slate of originals and feature content.
Before joining Jellyfish, the executive served as a senior development executive at Wildseed Studios, where she led a slate of original series and sourced emerging talent for live-action and animated series. Previous roles include senior creative at children’s app Azoomee, where she developed and produced on-demand series. Earlier in her career, Wurlitzer spent several years at Disney in the original series and coproduction departments before moving on to become an animation scriptwriter for series airing on Disney, CBeebies, and the Family Channel.
