A new young adult mystery drama, “Target,” has been announced as part of a strategic collaboration between JKS Entertainment and 1ON Studios in a new coproduction deal in Kazakhstan. The high-profile series features an eye-catching, contemporary storyline diving into the world of life in an elite private school, featuring compelling twists and universal characters that, in total, create a distinct and unique offering sure to capture global audience interest.
“I’ve long had a dream to create competitively cool content with our Tik Tokers as I wanted to show that they can be actors, too. Tik Tok is made up of billions, but only a few make it to the global arena. It’s all about charisma, the inner energy we are pleased to share. We’ve also prepared surprises for our fans: the most “shipped” couples who are loved by the audiences will develop romantic relationships in the show as their characters progress,” JKS Entertainment’s Beksultan Kazybek stated.
“It was obvious that sooner or later an international scripted series with Kazakhs Tik Tokers and talents would be made. There was a desire to collect the best representatives of the industry. The TikTok stars are the new media elite. You have to agree; making a story about a school played by high school idols is a pretty appealing idea. Our mission is to create a special, comfortable space to work with international crews and talents and develop content that will resonate in global markets,” 1ON Studios’ Temirlan Ataulla and Oleg Dyo added.
The show features an ensemble cast of popular TikTok bloggers from the famous YOLO House and BIP House. The ensemble cast includes @Lunamccall and @Raidess together with the superstar @Homm9k, officially recognized as one of the world’s most influential Tik Tokers with 43.3M followers. The hashtag #homaraides has reached 1.4B views and keeps breaking records. Brought to the small screen by JKS Entertainment and 1ON Studios, filming started in Almaty on August 4 and will be completed by mid-fall 2022. The series will be in English, with a second season already in development, reflecting the creators’ confidence in the project. Global rights are currently available.
“My character’s name is Veronica; her thinking, mindset, and interests are very close to mine. We are both fonds of astrology and numerology, and, in general, we enjoy being bright and standing out by playing with unusual looks. She is a kind and a faithful person, a good friend, being sometimes emotional, she radiates a strong sense of compassion,” Alina Kim said.
“Target” (8x30’) revolves around a high school senior, Mark, and his friends, who attend Alma, an elite private school. When Mark starts receiving mysterious targeted messages on his social media feed, he doesn’t pay much attention. But when the statements describe events that begin to happen in real life, he takes them much more seriously. He realizes he must act when he receives a “target,” predicting that a life-threatening fire will break out at the school. Having convinced his peers that the danger is real, they set out to prevent a catastrophe.
