Kelly Day has been promoted to lead Prime Video’s international originals division, following the sudden departure of longtime executive Jen Salke at the end of March. Day will take on this expanded role while continuing her duties as Vice President of Prime Video International.

She first joined the streamer in early 2022 from ViacomCBS (now Paramount Global), stepping into the role of VP and head of international. Her career also includes leadership roles at Discovery, AOL, and Awesomeness.

As part of her new responsibilities, Day is now in search of a replacement for James Farrell, the former VP of International Originals, who left the company earlier this year. The leadership shift was outlined in an internal memo from Prime Video chief Mike Hopkins, to whom Day now reports directly.

Day now oversees a global team of international originals executives, including Javiera Balmaceda (covering Latin America, Canada, and Australia), Tara Erer (Northern Europe), Nicole Morganti (Southern Europe), and Nikhil Madhok (India), who reports to Gaurav Gandhi, VP of Prime Video for APAC and MENA.

Also reporting to Day is Marc Hausmaninger, who leads content strategy for international originals. Her team has been instrumental in developing and launching shows like "Maxton Hall," "Clarkson’s Farm," "Like Water For Chocolate," and the international "LOL" franchise, which recently premiered in the UK.

In his message to staff, Hopkins cited the global success of non-English language titles such as "Culpa Tuya" and "Apocalypse Z," which have set streaming records for Prime Video, adding significant depth to the platform’s lineup.

Looking ahead, upcoming releases include "Newtopia" from Korea, "Superboys of Malegaon" from India, "Graduation Trip: Mallorca" from Spain, and "Costiera" from Italy. Hopkins said these titles give the company “a ton of confidence in what’s next” and noted that Day is well-positioned to “continue the amazing momentum” in international content.
