Korea's SLL and Japan's TV Asahi join forces on love thriller series "The Monster Within"

SLL will produce the original drama "The Monster Within", in collaboration with Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi. Based on the original story of writer Sin Un-yon's "Hands" by Perfect Storm Film, it is the first jointly planned and produced project by SLL and TV Asahi.

"The Monster Within" is a love thriller about a female lawyer with outstanding skills who meets a married man who is a murder suspect and suddenly falls in a forbidden love. It is a work that stands out for its intricately intertwined story of human love, desire, jealousy, and forgiveness.

The script is handled by Erika Seki, the directors include Yusuke Taki ("My Dear Exes") as well as Takashi Ninomiya ("The Wife Who Lost Her Liver"). In particular, Jin Hyuk and Choi Bo-yoon of Korean drama will be directing episodes 1 and 2 of "The Monster Within", therefore, the mixed Korea-Japan team is taking on the challenge of collaborative production, overcoming language and cultural barriers.

Kumiko Aso ("Omusubi" was cast as the female lead, and Akihisa Shiono ("The Incompetent Takano"), was cast as the male lead. "The Monster Within" is scheduled to premiere on TV Asahi on Friday, April 18, 2025.
