Azor Producciones, in collaboration with Onza, presents its latest deocumentary, "Iberia & Savannah: One Wildlife", that draws the connections between two seemingly distant ecosystems: the Iberian dehesa and the African savannah. The production is set to premiere in 2025 on RTVE.

"I had always heard that the Iberian dehesa landscape was very similar to an African savannah, and at a young age, I was able to witness it," says Eduardo Barrachina, the documentary’s director. "However, I initially thought it was just a matter of landscape. But no—the similarities between both ecosystems go far beyond that."

"We are delighted to take part in the production of ‘Iberia & Savannah: One Wildlife’. Blue-chip documentaries are undoubtedly one of the strongest niches in the international documentary market," says Gonzalo Sagardía, CEO of Onza. "At Onza Distribution, we aim to develop a competitive catalog around this genre, one of the strongest and more stable in the international market”.

Over the course of its 52 minutes, the documentary film explores similarities between these two worlds, separated by thousands of kilometers, yet functioning in remarkably similar ways. It showcases how species have developed the same survival strategy by adapting to their respective environments.

"Iberia & Savannah: One Wildlife" stands out for showcasing the striking similarities in the lives and behaviors of species that live in these two different ecosystems, such as foxes and jackals, deer and Thomson’s gazelles, genets, Iberian wolves, wild boars, and warthogs, among others. Climate, topography, and even the appearance of the landscape itself shape the lives of these animals, forcing them to adapt to their environment. "This is why the resemblance between the dehesa and the savannah goes far beyond aesthetics," says Barrachina. The documentary primarily follows the upbringings of an Iberian lynx and a leopard, from their early days as cubs to maturity, offering a unique perspective on their lives and adaptations.

"Iberia & Savannah: One Wildlife" is internationally distributed by Onza Distribution, joining the growing list of nature productions from the Spanish distributor, which has recently secured major sales: "A Whale’s Worth" was sold to TV Monaco; "The Wind Sentries" was acquired by RTP Portugal; and "Wild Tales of Madrid" was sold to China (CCTV), Poland, and Portugal (RTP).
