Keshet International has confirmed that its flagship title for Mipcom 2025 will be “Nutuk,” a high-stakes, bilingual suspense drama in which a child’s memories of a past life trigger the unraveling of a long-buried murder mystery. Created by Roy Iddan (“Manayek,” “Tehran”) and Nahd Basheir (“A Dead Sea,” “Dr Kharage”), and directed by Adam Sanderson (“Absentia,” “Sirens”), the eight-part drama (8x60’) is produced by Yoav Gross Productions for Keshet 12 and will premiere in Israel this October.
Kelly Wright, Managing Director of Distribution at Keshet International, said: “Memories of a past life — or reincarnation — is a phenomenon found across many societies, spanning countless religious, spiritual, and cultural traditions. As a result, more than two billion people around the world may relate to the concept in some way. For many, it’s a system of cosmic justice; for others, a source of comfort and hope beyond death. In ‘Nutuk,’ Keshet 12’s gripping new drama, reincarnation serves as the emotional and narrative engine that drives a suspenseful investigation story. It’s a bold drama with global resonance told in Keshet’s signature style — and we’re excited to present it to buyers in Cannes.”
Karni Ziv, Head of Drama and Comedy at Keshet 12, added: “At Keshet, we’re dedicated to telling stories that reflect the rich diversity of our small nation. In ‘Nutuk,’ the Druze community’s deeply spiritual — and often hidden — theology around reincarnation is brought to life with a sense of mystery and reverence. Roy, Nahd, and Adam have captured this beautifully, crafting a powerful and authentic narrative that resonates on both emotional and cultural levels.”
Set against the spiritual backdrop of the Druze community, “Nutuk” (meaning "reincarnation" in Druze theology) follows the chilling journey of Daniel, a seven-year-old boy who vanishes briefly at a gas station only to return claiming he was with his brother — despite being an only child. As Daniel’s memories become increasingly vivid, his family begins to suspect he may be undergoing a real “nutuk” experience. His visions point to the unsolved disappearance of Ali Khiradin, a man he believes was murdered. As the truth unfolds, the Fares family is drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that powerful forces are determined to keep hidden.
Daniel is portrayed by newcomer Jude Khatib, starring alongside Lucy Ayoub (“Fauda,” “Night Therapy”) as Maya, his mother, and Amgad Badr (“Shabas,” “Fauda,” “Jerusalem”) as his father, Rami. Nahd Basheir, who also co-created the series, plays Suliman Khiradin, the brother of the murdered man.
“Nutuk” was originally greenlit by Keshet Broadcasting in 2022 as part of a 100 million NIS (approximately $27 million) investment in eight scripted projects. The lineup also included “A Body that Works,” “Trust No One,” and “Save the Date,” all three of which were later picked up by Netflix.
At Mipcom 2025, Keshet International will be located at Riviera 7 (R7:K22) and is set to unveil a full autumn slate in the coming weeks. “Nutuk” anchors a content offering that reflects Keshet’s ongoing commitment to high-quality drama with strong international appeal.
