Spanish company Onza Distribution has announced the addition of "Golden Swan" to its international catalog. The series, created by Filip Bobinski, Jan Coufal, and Petr Sizling of the Czech company Dramedy Productions ("The Manor House," "Away From You"), is a production of the Czech public channel TV NOVA ("Ulice," "One Family").
The title premiered on the Bulgarian channel Voyo's SVOD platform in January 2023 and aired on Czech television on February 2 of the same year. The second season hit screens in late August 2023, and the third and final season will conclude the series in June 2024. "Golden Swan" achieved successful audience results in its first season, with a 29% share and a total of over 1 million viewers in its most-watched episode.
The series transports us to 1939, during the era of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, then under Nazi occupation, in the prelude to World War II. After fleeing due to theft, Bára hides in the Golden Swan Galleries to escape the police. A series of incidents and misunderstandings lead her to become a saleswoman in the fashion department, and a new life opens up before her. Soon, Petr, the charming owner of the department store, sets his sights on her. However, despite being in love, the inequalities between them become evident.
Béatrice Nouh, Head of Sales at Onza Distribution, praised the quality and potential of the product: "We are delighted to present this charismatic period drama, which we are confident will attract our international clients. It is an example of the quality present in productions from this region, and we are pleased to start this new collaboration with TV NOVA," emphasized.
Klara Follova, Creative Producer at TV NOVA, highlighted the cultural significance of the story: "We are thrilled that the stories of our heroines and heroes will travel beyond our borders. I trust in the ability of this drama set in Prague in 1939 to move viewers from all around the world," affirmed.
Finally, Onza Distribution will be present in major markets in 2024, such as Series Mania or MIPTV. Some of the recently added titles to the distributor's catalog that will begin their international journey include "Perverso" (8x45'), the highly anticipated Onza thriller premiering this year on Prime Video, and "FC Barcelona: Una nueva era" (S1: 5x40', S2: 4x40'), the sports documentary series by Wakai focused on the Blaugrana legend.
