Joyn and SAT.1 have secured the upcoming U.S. series “Navy CIS: Origins” through a new content licensing deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution. The agreement not only introduces a fresh chapter in the globally popular NCIS franchise but also expands Joyn's free streaming lineup with more than 1,000 episodes from the broader “Navy CIS” universe, alongside complete seasons of “Elementary,” “Dr. Quinn,” and “Charmed.”
Henrik Pabst, Chief Content Officer of Seven. One Entertainment Group, described the agreement as a strategic success. “The licensing content deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution is a success story for Joyn and SAT.1,” he said. “By expanding the collaboration, the new series ‘Navy CIS: Origins’ and over 1,000 additional episodes of the ‘Navy CIS’ franchise will continue to be available for free on the super streamer Joyn. We are also bringing our viewers all seasons of the popular U.S. series ‘Elementary,’ ‘Dr. Quinn,’ and ‘Charmed,’ offering the best Hollywood entertainment on our platforms at all times.”
Dan Cohen, Chief Content Licensing Officer at Paramount and President of Republic Pictures, emphasized the importance of the long-standing partnership with Seven. One: “We are thrilled to be expanding our licensing deal with Seven. One Entertainment Group with the newest series from the NCIS franchise, ‘Navy CIS: Origins.’ The ever-growing NCIS franchise has proven successful for Seven. One for many years and we are pleased to have German audiences enjoy the newest iteration, following a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs narrated by Navy CIS’ very own, Mark Harmon.”
“Navy CIS: Origins,” narrated by franchise icon Mark Harmon, explores the early career of Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and stars Austin Stowell in the lead role. The series will be available on the Joyn streaming platform free of charge beginning 22 July 2025—one week before its linear premiere. SAT.1 will follow with the free TV debut on 29 July 2025, airing back-to-back episodes every Tuesday.
The series is executive produced by David J. North, Gina Lucita Monreal, Mark Harmon, and Sean Harmon. It also features Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote. All entries in the “Navy CIS” franchise—including “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: Hawai’i,” and “NCIS: New Orleans”—are produced by CBS Studios and distributed globally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
