Show TV has commissioned a local version of the US medical drama "New Amsterdam." The title is currently airing on broadcast network, NBC. Locally titled "Hayat Bugün" (Life is Today), the Turkish version will be produced by 03 Medya in association with Universal International Studios. It will air on Skow TV in 2023. The scripted format is distributed by NBCUniversal Formats, which has partnered with Turkish producer 03 Medya to work on this first international adaptation of the series.

"New Amsterdam" was inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer’s memoir "Twelve Patients: Life & Death" at Bellevue Hospital and his 15 years as medical director at the hospital. Earlier this year, the show was renewed for a fifth and final season, which is set to debut later this month.

It was created for television by David Schulner, who also serves as executive producer alongside Peter Horton. It is produced by Mount Moriah, Pico Creek Productions, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. The ensemble cast will be led by Ulaş Tuna Astepe, playing Dr. Max Goodwin (Dr. Bariş Güvener).

"Hayat Bugün" follows Dr. Bariş, the newly established chief of medicine at one of Turkey’s most famous and oldest public hospitals, as he works to fix a neglected facility by tearing up its bureaucracy and using creative solutions to provide exceptional care to patients.
