Sky's original's "The Hanging Sun" to close the 79th Venice International Film Festival

Sky today announces that "The Hanging Sun," a Sky Original, will close the 79th Venice International Film Festival on 10 September 2022. The Sky Original will air on Sky Cinema later this year.

"The Hanging Sun" is directed by Francesco Carrozzini and is produced by leading Italian production companies Cattleya and Groenlandia, alongside Sky Studios, Sky’s original programming arm across Europe. The international distributor is NBCUniversal Global Distribution on behalf of Sky Studios. The Italian theatrical distributor is Vision Distribution.

Based on the novel “Midnight Sun” by Jo Nesbø, this noir thriller is set amidst the rarefied atmospheres of the Norwegian summer where the sun never sets. The film by Stefano Bises features performances from Alessandro Borghi, Jessica Brown Findlay, Sam Spruell, Frederick Schmidt, and Raphael Vicas, with Peter Mullan and Charles Dance. With numerous Sky Originals, Sky Cinema launches brand new films every month alongside an unrivaled range of the latest cinema releases and on demand library.
