"Artefacts, Thieves of Thieves"
Somewhere Animation, the Mediawan Kids & Family 2D label, and TFOU are teaming up to develop an ambitious new animated series for the TF1 group. "Artefacts, Thieves of Thieves" is a bold and original 2D creation helmed by acclaimed director Stéphane Berry, best known for "Totally Spies!", and created in collaboration with Cyril Deydier ("Mille Bornes Challenge"). Jess Kedward and Kirsty Peart — the brilliant writing duo behind Disney’s "Kiya and the Kimoja Heroes", "101 Dalmatian Street", and the phenomenal comeback of "Totally Spies!" — are joining the project as Head Writers and Executive Producers. The series will be distributed internationally by Mediawan Kids & Family.
A vibrant blend of adventure, humor, intrigue, and mystery, "Artefacts, Thieves of Thieves" marks the triumphant return of the action-comedy genre. Aimed at kids aged 6 to 10 and their families, this 26 x 22-minute series embraces a fun, epic, and heart-filled storytelling style.
By day, Jet and Charlie are just regular middle schoolers. But when the school bell rings, they become humanity’s last line of defense. Their ancestral mission, passed down through generations, is to protect the ARTEFACTS: powerful totems hidden across the globe on magnetic ley lines that safeguard Earth’s balance.
These art objects, imbued with unimaginable power, serve as the seals holding chaos at bay. But a sinister organization known as Mantracore is determined to steal them all and use them to seize control of the world. At just 13 and 14 years old, Jet and Charlie uncover their legacy as descendants of a long line of protectors and take up the mantle of the "Thieves of Thieves" to recover and secure the stolen artefacts.
Arthur Colignon, Founder and Producer at Somewhere Animation (Mediawan Kids & Family) praised their partners: ‘We’re incredibly proud and excited to be working with TF1, whose trust and commitment enable us to bring "Artefacts" to life and realize our creative ambitions. With "Artefacts", we’ve brought together an exceptional alliance of talent, some of the most prominent figures in global animation, to craft truly original stories and characters. In a rapidly evolving market, we are uniting top-tier international creatives to build tomorrow’s major franchises, loved by kids around the world," noted.
Meanwhile, Yann Labasque, Head of Youth Programming, TF1 Group, highlighted the originality of the IP: ‘We’re thrilled to embark on this first collaboration with Somewhere Animation, part of Mediawan Kids & Family, especially on such exciting original IP. We're committed to supporting a new generation of producers and creators. With "Artefacts, Thieves of Thieves", audiences will travel to every corner of the globe to follow Jet and Charlie, an energetic, lovable duo, on their thrilling and twist-filled quest for supernatural treasures long lost to ancient civilizations," expressed.
