Sphere Abacus announced the appointment of Christina Covarrubias as Sales Consultant in Latin America. Christina will represent Sphere Abacus and continue to strengthen sales in Latin America, focusing on the importance of buyers and channels in the region. She will use her knowledge of the market to promote Sphere Abacus’ diverse slate of premium and multi-genre programming.
Sphere Abacus Managing Director, Jonathan Ford, highlighted the great timing for her to join, “This is an exciting time for Christina to join Sphere Abacus following the recent acquisition of Abacus Media Rights by Canada’s Sphere Media. Christina’s experience with the Latin American market will be invaluable to the company as we continue to distribute our vast programming catalogue and invest in new programs from independent producers," stated.
Christina Covarrubias was previously Director of Sales for Latin America and US Hispanic at ITV Studios Distribution, managing all licensing activity including formats for Latin America and US Hispanic broadcast, cable, and digital platforms. She studied Cinema Television Critical Studies and English Creative Writing at the University of Southern California.
The executive expressed her enthusiasm for MIPCOM and MIP Cancun: “I’m looking forward to attending both MIPCOM and MIP CANCUN to represent Sphere Abacus’ catalogue of diverse premium documentaries and series available for all rights in Latin America," commented.
