Talpa’s music competition "The Tribute - Battle of the Bands" will soon make its way to Germany.“It’s great to see this nostalgic, feel-good music competition travel. The show brings generations together, and it’s the ultimate tribute to some of the best national and international bands around," Sebastian van Barneveld, Talpa’s Director of International Distribution said. "It’s a real treat for the viewers. Also, the commission underscores our capacity to deliver high-quality, valuable content at an attractive price point, all facilitated at our production hub in the Netherlands.”

The renowned show has been ordered by Seven. One Entertainment Group. This fall, a total of five episodes will be produced in Talpa’s production hub in the Netherlands by Cheerio Entertainment in collaboration with Talpa Entertainment Productions. The casting to find tribute bands in the country has already begun. "The Tribute - The Show of the Legends,"  after the original "The Tribute - Battle of the Bands," will be broadcasted by SAT.1 in 2024. After A Quiz for You and The Floor, this marks the third collaboration this year between Talpa and Seven. One Entertainment Group.

It’s the first commission for the series outside the Netherlands where the first two seasons were a big success on SBS6. With an average market share of 14,9% in the 25-59 key demo for the second series, the show outperformed with more than 50% above channel average. Additional to that, the second season topped off with three live tribute concerts in one of the biggest concert halls in the country that were completely sold out. SBS6 has already announced a third season for 2024.

"The idea behind 'The Tribute' is as simple as it is great: inspiring musicians cover the greatest hits of immortal musicians," Seven. One Entertainment Group Head of Development Hannes Hiller said. "SAT.1 viewers hear one hit after the other in 'The Tribute'. After 'The Floor' and 'Murmel Mania', 'The Tribute' is already the third big show idea from the deal with John de Mol's Talpa that SAT.1 is implementing for the next few months. It rocks!"
