Tasveer announced the opening of applications for the fifth edition of the Tasveer Film Fund (TFF), now part of the Tasveer Film Market Initiative. Supported by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity for the fourth year in a row, the TFF offers grants to empower South Asian filmmakers residing in North America. Filmmaker applicants must have over three years of industry experience and have made at least three short films.

The TFF invites narrative short scripts exploring themes of Diaspora/Immigrant Stories, LGBTQIA+, and South Asian Narratives. Nine pitches will be shortlisted and the top three will be awarded $25,000 each to produce their short film.

"In its fifth year, we are thrilled to continue the Tasveer Film Fund, a powerful initiative to discover and nurture groundbreaking South Asian projects from its inception. Our commitment to supporting innovative voices aims to make a profound and lasting impact on the film industry, moving the needle on representation," said Rita Meher, Executive Director of Tasveer.

The Tasveer Film Market, including the Tasveer Film Fund, and the Tasveer Film Festival will be held October 15-20, 2024. Applications and market badges are now open and the deadline to submit to the Tasveer Film Fund is August 11, 2024.

Founded 22 years ago, the goal of Tasveer is to recast harmful labels by providing a glimpse into the lives of South Asians through film, art, and storytelling. The Tasveer Film Market comprises Feature Narrative, Documentary, and TV Co-Production Pitches, Tasveer Film Fund Short Narrative Pitches supported by Netflix, Producer's Lab, Work-in-Progress Lab, Industry Panels, Masterclasses, Networking Cocktails, Market Booths and more.
