The ABC and Screen Australia begin producing the second series of "The PM’s Daughter"

The ten-part political comedy-drama title is produced by Fremantle Australia.

The ABC and Screen Australia has begun producing the second series of the critically acclaimed political comedy-drama "The PM’s Daughter," produced by Fremantle Australia.“We are very excited to be in production on a second PM’s Daughter series with Cat now firmly ensconced in the Lodge with her PM Mum, Isabel, surrounded by her best mates Sadie, Ollie, and newcomer Alex," Mary-Ellen Mullane, Managing Editor ABC Children’s, said. "There’s loads more political intrigue, super surprising teen crushes and yes, the constant challenges of teen life lived firmly and squarely in the public eye. We look forward to sharing the new series with you soon.”

Created by Tristram Baumber and Matthew Allred, series 2 of "The PM’s Daughter" is led by producer Tim Powell and co-producer Yingna Lu. The ten-episode series is led by set-up director Julie Kalceff alongside Lisa Matthews. Script producer Jess Paine heads the writing team, which includes Alexandra Cullen, Craig Irvin, Lou Sanz, Hannah Samuel, Gemma Bird Matheson and Nikki Tran. The executive producers are Fremantle’s Warren Clarke, Tristram Baumber, ABC’s Mary-Ellen Mullane and ACTF’s Bernadette O’Mahony, with Fremantle’s Kieran Hoyle as co-executive producer. Fremantle are handling the international distribution. “We know Cat’s adventures proved popular with young viewers and we’re delighted to support a second season of this fresh series,"  Grainne Brunsdon, Screen Australia’s Head of Content, said. "The talented creative team have done a brilliant job of crafting a smart drama that explores contemporary issues and real world politics in a fun and engaging way.”

Just as Cat Parkes Pérez becomes comfortable in The Lodge, a brand new conspiracy sends her on a desperate search for the truth. Between a federal election campaign and a highly competitive tech internship, there’s no shortage of distractions … and that’s all before her mother’s love life starts making headlines. Cat’s journalism aspirations are about to be put to the test as she digs to uncover her very first story, all while balancing the unpredictable complications that come with being the PM’s daughter. With best friends Sadie and Ollie by her side, Cat’s about to discover that the truth can be far more complicated than she ever imagined. 

The title's cast member list includes Cassandra Helmot as Cat, Natalie English as Sadie, Jaga Yap as Ollie, Amelie James-Power as Georgina, and introduces Bailey Hayward as Alex. Claire Fearon returns as Prime Minister Isabel Pérez along with Anthony Brandon Wong as Deputy Prime Minister Tim Yeung, Gemma Bird Matheson as Yvette and Renee Lim as Deputy Principal Tan. “After the phenomenal success of the first season, we’re delighted to continue our collaboration with the ABC for a second term of The PM’s Daughter," Warren Clarke, Executive Producer, Fremantle, said.
