"Song vs Dance"
TV Asahi and Smart Dog Media, from Emmy Award-winning producers Craig Plestis and Clara Plestis, started the production of their new talent competition show, "Song vs Dance". This variety show format, coproduced between both companies, has commenced filming at TV Asahi’s main studio in Roppongi, Tokyo.
The show hosted by a renowned Japanese comedian, guides viewers through an action-packed competition featuring a diverse panel of Japanese judges and talent. Offering their expertise and insights throughout the competition, the stellar panel includes the lead vocalist of a popular J-pop group, a break-dancing Olympian and a comedian who is an Instagram sensation.
Executive Producers are Craig Plestis and Clara Plestis with Takaaki Kitano taking the lead in production. "Song vs Dance" marks TV Asahi’s first co-production with a U.S.-based partner, Smart Dog Media.
This trailblazing co-production brings together two of the biggest forms of artistic performance – singing and dancing – creating a new benchmark in competition television. The show will see outstanding performers facing off in thrilling head-to-head battles set in a video game-inspired format that promises high-energy excitement and dynamic Performances.

TV Asahi and Smart Dog Media will also be showcasing "Song vs Dance" at the inaugural MIP London 2025 international market, where they will host a panel session on Monday, 24th February 2025. The session will feature Craig Plestis, Clara Plestis and Takaaki Kitano.
