Toronto-based film and television production company Wildling Pictures today announced it has optioned the international best-selling novel "Woman on the Edge" by Samantha M. Bailey with coproducers, Toronto-based Little Mama Media for a series adaptation. The psychological thriller adaptation represents Wildling’s growing slate of high-end scripted TV series, following the launch of its TV division last year.

"Woman on the Edge" is an international bestseller that has been sold in eleven countries. The book spent twenty-two weeks as a Canadian bestseller, and is one of the top ten bestselling Canadian fiction books of 2020.

Wildling Pictures has produced a range of original feature films including "Young Werther" starring Alison Pill, Douglas Booth, Iris Apatow, and the hit thriller "See For Me" starring Kim Coates and Jessica Parker Kennedy. Wildling’s TV slate includes the screen adaption of the bestselling book "A Death at The Party" by Amy Stuart with screenwriter Joanne Sarazen ("Backspot", "Tammy’s Always Dying").

Little Mama Media’s TV slate includes the CBC Gem and ITVX series Something Undone with Madison Walsh ("The Expanse") and Michael Musi ("Kim’s Convenience"), Billy Campbell ("Cardinal"), and Amanda Brugel ("The Handmaid’s Tale").

In a split second, Morgan Kincaid's life changes when a stranger hands her a baby and jumps in front of a train. Shocked and unable to explain how the woman knew her name, Morgan becomes a murder suspect after learning the woman was Nicole Markham, CEO of the athletic brand Breathe, and no witnesses can verify her story. To prove her innocence, Morgan retraces Nicole's final days, uncovering whether Nicole was paranoid or genuinely in danger. As she delves deeper, Morgan realizes she might be in danger too. "Woman on the Edge" is a gripping thriller exploring the intensity of motherhood and the aftermath of a life-altering moment.

Natalie Urquhart, Development Executive at Wildling Pictures praised the author of the original book: “The appeal and potential to develop Woman on the Edge into a TV series is undeniable. Samantha M. Bailey taps into so many poignant and universal themes in her writing, from motherhood to mental health and beyond. We are delighted to be partnering with the brilliant team at Little Mama Media to bring this thrilling story to the screen", commented.
