yes Studios has extended its long-term partnership with Vuelta Group Germany´s SquareOne Productions, with the latter now working on an adaptation of its most recently launched psychological drama series, "Night Therapy." Both companies have been worked together on the global hit format of "Your Honor", with the high-profile boutique producer creating a German adaptation for ARD and ORF with Mona Film Produktion, a French version for TF1 with Federation and an Italian version for Rai with Indiana Productions, also a member of the Vuelta Group.

SquareOne is now developing the German language version of "Night Therapy" - which also marks the first international option deal for the format - with writers attached and conversations ongoing with acting talent. The title, which launched to great acclaim on Israel’s yes TV in June, is a 10x60’ drama about a psychologist struggling to raise his two children after the suicide of his wife. To strike a better work-homelife balance and support his kids during the day as they rebuild their lives, he decides to shift his practice to receive patients at night. Through the gateway and magic of the late clinic hours and flashback scenes where he acts as an unseen observer of their problems, the series depicts refreshing points of view on life, which often require unusual treatments.

"Night Therapy", which has recently been commissioned for a second season by yes TV, was created and written by Raanan Caspi, directed by Gabriel Bibliowicz and produced by Dafna Danenberg, Aviram Avraham and Benny Menache at Eight Productions. The acclaimed Israeli series stars Yousef Sweid ("Munich Games"), award-winning Israeli actress Shira Haas ("Captain America") plus Lucy Ayoub, Yaakov Zada Daniel and Firas Nassar, all of whom have starred in yes Studios’ hit international series "Fauda". yes TV commissioned the original "Night Therapy" series, and yes Studios is the worldwide distributor for the series and the format.

Sharon Levi, managing director at yes Studios, comments: “SquareOne Productions has created brilliant and memorable adaptations of 'Your Honor', so I can think of no better or safer hands for our latest title. 'Night Therapy' is a powerful and often moving story that plays both dark and light and affords the viewer uniquely personal and intimate insights into a cast of intriguing, well-rounded characters. The issues for which most people seek therapy are often rooted in family, relationships or career – so they are fully universal. We therefore have high hopes that this adaptation will be the first of many.”

Al Munteanu, CEO at SquareOne / Vuelta Group Germany adds: “We want to thank our friends at yes Studios for entrusting us with this genius format. After a stroke of fate, an unconventional therapist - following his instincts - shifts his therapy sessions to the night. This not only results in a completely new approach to his clients but also creates a magical night-time universe as a counterpoint today time, offering new and surprising perspectives. Outlandish clients, a unique 'dark' humour, very special colour and tone, combined with the excellent cast and unique German / Austrian setting, should be the ingredients for a hit show. In this series, the therapist himself is in our focus. Not only are direct reflections of his conflicts with those of his patients created, but the visualization of a different time level also enables the connection between the present and past. Confronted with loss and grief, our main character is a life-affirming, humorous figure who faces all adversities openly and courageously.”

Al Munteanu continues: “The characters and episodic plots of the original are basically retained, but the language is infused with lightness, irony and wordplay. We have – without spilling the beans just yet – an amazing talent in this role. We feel this show has awards potential, for it is fresh, human and of our time.”
