Zapata Filmes and 21X Media, led by filmmaker Juan Zapata and producer Santiago López, presented “Eterna Primavera,” a multiplatform project that seeks to change the global image of the city of Medellín in Colombia. Executive produced by Paula Jaramillo and distributed by Cecilia Gómez de la Torre, the project was announced at the Medellín Chamber of Commerce. Filming begins in March and will have an international premiere in November 2025.

For decades, the city of Medellín in Colombia was known for its past, marked by drug trafficking and violence. Today, the city has shifted to a focus on culture and innovation. "Eternal Spring" highlights this change, illustrating how the city has developed. "Medellín, as a character, tells its story through its figures and the people in daily life," says Zapata. "This series shows that cities can change, and culture is a tool for shaping identity."

The project's concept was formed at Ventana Sur 2022 when Zapata and López decided that Medellín’s story needed a new perspective. The multiplatform project includes a six-episode documentary series for streaming platforms, a feature film for theatrical release and festivals, a music album, a book series, a web series, and a social impact project.

The documentary will feature celebrities associated with Medellín, including Juanes (musician), René Higuita (former football player), Rigo (cyclist), Fernando Botero (artist), Víctor Gaviria (filmmaker), Juan Luis Mejía (historian),  and Héctor Abad Faciolince (writer). Medellín has moved from past challenges to focusing on tourism and creative industries. Eternal Spring presents this shift, offering insight into Medellín’s path and what it represents today. "Eternal Spring" aims to reshape how Medellín is perceived globally.
