"The Ultimate Ice Mission"
To mark the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation 2025, French distributor ZED puts the spotlight on leading science program "The Ultimate Ice Mission" (60' & 3!45'), directed by Florent Muller and produced by AUXYMA for France Télévisions. The title will have its North American premiere on March 26 at the DC Environmental Film Festival and is currently available for sales.
As Greenland's Petermann Glacier, the largest in the Northern Hemisphere, is rapidly melting, a team of international scientists sets out on a thrilling expedition at the heart of the poles. Thanks to cutting-edge technology (underwater rovers, satellite imagery, ice sheet modeling,), they'll explore the undersides of glaciers like never before, shedding new light on the dynamics between ice sheets and global climate.
"The Ultimate Ice Mission" propels the audience into this pioneering NASA-sponsored venture, led by world-renowned glaciologist Eric Rignot (Senior Research Scientist at NASA / JPL and NAS member) and featuring former Vice President, multi-awarded environmentalist and Peace Nobel Prize recipient Al Gore. The documentary has already won awards at the Deauville Green Awards (Golden Green Award - “Preserving Biodiversity”) and the Lumexplore festival.
Charlotte Tachet, Head of Distribution and Acquisitions at ZED: “With breathtaking cinematography and cutting-edge science, 'The Ultimate Ice Mission' offers a thrilling and visually stunning journey into one of the most critical environmental challenges of our time. For the first time, scientists are conducting on-site measurements under the glaciers, providing groundbreaking insights into the pace of ice melt. This essential, eye-opening experience, with its international scope and pioneering research, makes it an unmissable program for audiences worldwide.”
In addition to this event documentary, ZED is currently boosting a special selection of a dozen titles dedicated to our planet’s glaciers.
