Sports fans are having problems to find their favorite events

A study by Parks Associates revealed over one third of the consumers report being unable to watch a live sports event because it aired on a service to which they do not subscribe.

38% of sports watchers report being unable to watch a live sports event because it aired on a service to which they do not subscribe, as reported by Parks Associates’ “Future of Video: Business of Streaming” report. The company explained that consumers are struggling with streaming services due to fragmentation.

New partnerships are aiming to address this need, such as the recent announcement from ESPN, Fox Corp., and Warner Bros. Discovery to launch a streaming sports service that includes multiple networks and all major sports leagues.

Eric Sorensen, Director, Streaming Video Tracker at Parks Associates, said: "Consumers are seeking solutions that simplify their content search while players in the streaming market experiment with new business models and partnerships to attract subscribers and increase revenues."

Recently, Ampere released a study revealing the number of competitors' rights holders in the U.S. and major European markets is steadily increasing, requiring users to subscribe to more platforms to access all the content.
