HBO Max appoints Vera Peltekian as Head of its original programming division in France

Forming part of a pan-regional group, the Paris-based expert will oversee commission deals for all original programming in the country. She has operated French drama series and coproduced original programming at French pay TV since 2006.

WarnerMedia's HBO Max has appointed Canal+ executive Vera Peltekian as VP and commissioning editor of original production in France. “This appointment ensures we can start to develop exciting new content, so when we launch HBO Max in France, we can present a slate that will intrigue and delight audiences,” said WarnerMedia EVP and Head of Original Production, EMEA, Antony Root.

Set to start in November, the Paris-based executive will be tasked with commissioning original programming for the direct-to-consumer platform. She will form part of a pan-regional team responsible for commissioning and producing drama, comedy, documentary and unscripted content in EMEA for HBO Max.

Since 2006, Peltekian has managed French drama series and coproduced original programming at French pay TV operator Canal+. She and has worked on "The Returned," "Spiral," "The Tunnel," "Kaboul Kitchen," "Savages" and "Paris Police 1900." Peltekian has been overseeing French drama series for Canal+ since 2006, working on the likes of The Returned, The Tunnel and Savages.  Root called Peltekian a “a world-class television executive whose passion for nurturing storytellers has seen her work on some of France’s most creative and ambitious programming.”
