OTT IN SPAIN IS CLOSE TO REACH A 40% OF PENETRATION

Netflix is the market leader, taking 32.7 percent of all VoD subscriptions, with HBO and Amazon Prime Video fighting for the second position with 11.2 and 12.6 percent respectively, according to EGM.

A report from Estudio General de Medios (EGM), responsible for measuring audiovisual audiences in Spain, reveals that OTT and SVoD are increasingly gaining momentum with penetration of just over 38 percent achieved in the last four years.

Netflix is the market leader, taking 32.7 percent of all VoD subscriptions, with HBO and Amazon Prime Video fighting for the second position with 11.2 and 12.6 percent respectively, according to EGM.

The report also notes that pay-TV penetration amounts to 53.8 percent with Movistar, Vodafone, and Orange taking around 30 percent of subscribers.
