Roku reaches 70 million active accounts in the US

Over the next few months, the platform will unveil updates, such as Live TV, content discovery, Sports, the Roku Mobile App, and much more.

Roku unveiled the features and availability of its new Roku Select and Plus Series TVs in detail. The platform also announced that its OS is the #1 selling smart TV OS in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and it has reached over 70 million active accounts in the U.S. Over the next few months, it will announce updates to Live TV, content discovery, Sports, the Roku Mobile App.“As the #1 selling OS in three major markets, we understand what people want when it comes to a streaming platform – a simple yet delightful experience that feels personalized to them,” said Preston Smalley, Vice President of Viewer Product, Roku. “The latest updates to our powerful OS make Roku's software even more intuitive and curated, so users can spend less time searching for content and more time enjoying their favorite entertainment.”

Roku Select and Plus Series TVs will be available in 11 models ranging from 24” to 75”. The new devices are available exclusively from Best Buy stores and BestBuy.com, while the new Roku Wireless Soundbar will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores and online later this month. "Roku-branded HD and 4K TVs are the first ever to be both designed and made by Roku, underscoring the company's commitment to providing a best-in-class streaming experience at an accessible price," a recent release now. 

The enhanced features include  automatic brightness, wireless sound expandability, Bluetooth Private Listening, and Roku’s Voice Remote Pro, among others. “Our goal is to make everything about a smart TV delightfully simple, from finding the TV that’s perfect for you, to opening and unboxing, to enjoying your favorite movies and TV shows,” said Mustafa Ozgen, President, Devices, Roku. “We made purposeful decisions to ensure that our Roku Select and Plus Series TVs embody what users love most about the Roku streaming experience, and we brought in our expertise in picture quality and audio to give consumers an entertainment upgrade at an incredible value.”

The new features coming to Roku devices in the U.S. in the following months includes Local News, Premium Subscriptions, sports, a "continue watching" feature,a Roku Mobile App, a revamped Account Hub, A more streamlined Home Screen, Live TV Channel “Guide” button, Enhanced Roku Photo Stream, and availability.
