In his latest study about SVOD demand in Argentina, Parrot Analytics revealed which were the most outstanding series in the country during December using “demand expressions,” the global standard metric created by the company to represent the total demand expressed by the audience of a series within a market.

The demand reflects the desire, engagement, and viewership of television content and is weighted by importance; so a stream/download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or a comment.

Disney+'s “The Mandalorian” was December's most demanded digital original series in Argentina. The Star Wars series was also this month's globally most demanded series. “The Mandalorian” ranked second in Argentina last month, so the show has grown its audience here over the release of the season. This is despite the fact that the Disney+ service is not yet available in the country.

DC Universe's “Titans” continues to have high demand from Argentine audiences. The superhero series has been a top three digital original in this market since season 2 started in September 2019. Demand remains high after the season finale on 29th November 2019. Although DC Universe is not yet available in Argentina, “Titans” will be available on Netflix in January 2020.

Apple TV+ launched in Argentina on 1st November 2019 and “The Morning Show” became the first Apple TV+ original to appear in the top ten when it placed 10th that month. In December, Apple TV+ had two digital originals in the Argentinian list: “The Morning Show” improved to become the 7th most demanded series in the market, while sci-fi show “See” appeared in 9th.

The highest ranked Netflix digital original this month was “Stranger Things,” which had the third most Argentinian demand. The increased competition from new services is leaving less room for Netflix. Earlier in 2019, it was common for the majority of the most demanded digital originals in Argentina to be Netflix titles, but in December only four were Netflix originals.
