Animation World Summit 2023 announces its star-filled line-up

Hayao Miyazaki, Jennifer Lee, Shuzo, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson, Sam Fell, among others will be honored at the event that will take place on November 1-3 in Los Angeles.

The 2023 World Animation & VFX Summit returns with a star-filled line-up besides keynotes, panels, parties and networking opportunities featuring a wide array of top-level Animation and Visual Effects industry professionals. The Summit, which takes November 1-3, on the grounds of the historic Garland Hotel in North Hollywood, will feature a special opening night gala on Nov. 1st where the honorees will receive their awards.

The 2023 honorees are: Hayao Miyazaki; Co-Founder, Studio Ghibli; Jennifer Lee; Chief Creative Officer Walt Disney Animation Studios; Mediawan Kids & Family, International Studio of the Year; Directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson; Sam Fell, Director of "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget"; Animator Floyd Norman, Gina Shay, Producer of "Trolls Band Together"; Shuzo John Shiota; President of Polygon Pictures; and Tara Sorensen, Head of Children’s Programming Apple TV+.

The three-day Summit will feature special keynotes, panels, and networking breakfasts, lunches, screenings and parties with top tier executive and creative talent representing various aspects of the industry. Some of these activities are the Creative Keynotes by Pixar writer/director Peter Sohn ("Elemental"), "Hair Love and Young Love" creator Matthew A. Cherry, "The Inventor" writer/director Jim Capobianco, and Dan Abraham and Trent Corey, writers/directors of Disney’s "Once Upon a Studio."

Award Season Feature Panel featuring the directors of 2023’s biggest animated movies, including Sam Fell, Peter Sohn, Nick Bruno and Troy Quane ("Nimona"), Kirk DeMicco ("Ruby Gillman"), Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin D. Thompson ("Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse"), Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic ("The Super Mario Bros. Movie"), Jeff Rowe ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem"), Walt Dohrn ("Trolls Band Together"), and Chris Buck ("Wish").

Award Season Shorts Panel and exclusive screening of the year’s best shorts, including "Once Upon a Studio", "I’m Hip", "The Day I Became a Bird", "Starling, 27", "Letter to a Pig", "Rosemary A.D.", "Our Uniform", "Amarradas" and "Daffy in Wackyland."
