On the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival, the French company TF1 Studio unveiled a brand new immersive Virtual Reality experience dedicated to the rediscovery of an emblematic film of its heritage, restored in 4K: Jacques Feyder's "Pension Mimosas" (1935). The company will offer viewers a VR experience in a 1935 cinema that has now disappeared.
TF1 Studio chose the Pereire Palace, a 1,500-seat cinema built in 1935 in the purest Art Deco style at 159 rue de Courcelles (75017), but converted into commercial premises in 1955. This experiment has brought it back to life, while fully and meticulously respecting its original architecture and decoration. On the basis of the plans signed by the architects Charles Wulffleff and Aloïs Verrey (also architects of Notre-Dame de Balata in Fort-de-France) and various specialist articles from the time of its opening, the auditorium has been completely reconstructed so that visitors can discover its beauty and magic, now lost.
Created by Louis Ravard for TF1 Studio, this unique experience will be unveiled by the Newen Connect teams at the Newen Studios stand during the Cannes Film Festival, before being presented at various emblematic venues and festivals. Pierre Olivier, EVP Film Library & Home Entertainment at TF1 Studio, referred with excitement to the challenge of experience: "We are very proud to be able to (re)discover a classic film from our heritage through an ambitious, original and spectacular experience. This innovation underlines Newen Studios' commitment to innovation and demonstrates the Group's strong attachment to cinema" stated.
