Thuristar and La Cabane, the Belgian-French duo behind the international hit "Mush-Mush," will present their new series project, "Luce in the Lovely Land," on September 19th at Cartoon Forum, while Thuristar is in the running for the "Producer of the Year" Cartoon Tribute. Distributed by Miyu Distribution and selected for over 160 festivals worldwide, the short film "Luce and the Rock" has won nearly 40 awards to date. Picked up by several major broadcasters (France Télévisions, VRT-Ketnet, RTBF, RTS, etc.), the film was also released in November 2022 across 200 theaters in France, as part of the “Vive le Vent d’Hiver!” program (Les Films du Préau), and has also been released in Belgium, Spain, and Switzerland, totaling over 100,000 admissions to date.
The project will be presented in 11'louse on September 19th at 11.45 AM (Blue Room) by its producer, Perrine Gauthier, and its creator, Britt Raes. "Luce lives in a small village, and she will explore the vast world surrounding it. It feels very symbolic of the journey I’m about to undertake: directing an animated series is a big adventure. Fortunately, like Luce, I’m in good company!" Britt Raes, series' creator and director, said.
"Luce in the Lovely Land," a 26 x 11' preschool series developed in partnership with broadcaster VRT-Ketnet, is adapted from Luce and the Rock*, the multi-awarded short film" by Belgian artist Britt Raes. This series of adventurous and quirky tales features Luce, a brave and curious 6-year-old who explains the world around her. When an event disrupts the daily life of her small village, Luce sets up with her best friend, a giant Rock creature, in search of answers and solutions. During these journeys, together, they meet incredible creatures and live amazing adventures in a creative and surprising world.
This year's Cartoon Forum will be an extraordinary one for Thuristar, which, in addition to presenting Luce in the Lovely Land, is also nominated for the Cartoon Tributes 2023 in the “Producer of the Year” category, a statement to the company's ambitious choices, the quality and diversity of its projects, and its commitment to the animation industry. "Enthusiasm is what drives me, and meeting Britt and seeing her latest short receiving such amazing response has generated a lot of it and became the starting point for Luce in the Lovely Land," explains Perrine Gauthier, co-founder of La Cabane, producer at THURISTAR and producer of the series.
"Presenting the project in Toulouse is a precious opportunity, and I can't wait to introduce Britt's inventive and kind-hearted universe to the seasoned Cartoon Forum audience. Joeri Christiaen, our fantastic little team, and I are honored that Thuristar is nominated for a Cartoon Tribute. It only strengthens our commitment to supporting creator-driven series and films, distinctive visual styles, and important themes,” Gauthier added.
