HBO MINISERIES “CHERNOBYL” LEADS NOMINATIONS AT BAFTA 2020

The HBO original mini-series “Chernobyl” received 14 nominations at this year’s 2020 BAFTA Television Awards, the most of any other program. The BAFTA’s, which take place annually, recognize the best in the UK’s television industry.

“His Dark Materials”, with four nominations, “Succession”, nominated for Best International Series and Best Writer for a Drama for Jesse Armstromg, and “Gentleman Jack”, which was recognized in the categories of Best Drama Series and Best Leading Actress for Suranne Jones, are among HBO’s original productions highlighted this year. The winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony on July 31.

The full list of HBO productions nominated for this year’s BAFTA awards are: 

“Chernobyl”: Best Mini-Series, Best Leading Actor - Jared Harris; Best Supporting Actor - Stellan Skarsgard; Best Writer: Drama – Craig Mazin; Best Costume Design – Odile Dicks-Mireaux; Best Director: Fiction – Johan Renck; Best Editing: Fiction – Simon Smith and Jinx Godfrey; Best Make Up & Hair Design – Daniel Parker and Barrie Gower; Best Original Music – Hildur Gudnadóttir; Best Photography & Lighting: Fiction – Jakob Ihre; Best Production Design – Luke Hull and Claire Levinson-Gendler; Best Scripted Casting – Nina Gold and Robert Sterne; Best Sound: Fiction – Stefan Henrix, Joe Beal, Stuart Hilliker and Vincent Piponnier; Best Special, Visual and Graphic Effects – Lindsay Mcfarlane, Claudius Christian Rauch and Jean-Clément Soret.

“His Dark Materials”: Best Photography & Lighting: Fiction – Suzie Lavelle; Best Sound: Fiction – Dillon Bennett, Jon Thomas, Gareth Bull and James Ridgeway; Best Special, Visual and Graphic Effects – Framestore, Painting Practice, Real SFX and Russell Dodgson; Best Titles & Graphic Identity – Elastic and Painting Practice.

“Gentleman Jack”: Best Series: Drama; Best Leading Actress - Suranne Jones.

"Game Of Thrones": Best Costume Design – Michele Clapton; Virgiin Media’s Must See Moment (Voted by the Public).

"Catherine The Great": Best Make Up & Hair Design – Kirstin Chalmers; Best Titles & Graphic Identity – Elastic.
