Globo will participate in MIP Africa, one of the leading events in the audiovisual sector on the continent, which brings together major industry players. For the second consecutive year, the company is presenting a diverse portfolio in partnership with Côte Ouest, from Mediawan Africa, celebrating a collaboration of over 25 years. Strengthening its presence in the region, Globo is bringing exclusive premieres, successful telenovelas, series, documentaries, and formats to the event. On September 2, at the Onyx Hotel, the company will also host a lunch to showcase its main products and presence in the territory.
MIP Africa marks the international launch of "Queen of Myself," a telenovela written by Rosane Svartman (Never Give Up, Total Dreamer) and directed by Allan Fiterman. The story follows Leona (Clara Moneke, from Never Give Up), whose life is transformed by her relationship with Sofia (Elis Cabral), a seven-year-old girl for whom she becomes a nanny. Their encounter sparks a journey of affection, care, companionship, and human connection. Featuring strong female characters, Queen of Myself blends comedy, drama, romance, adventure, suspense, power struggles, and plot twists.
Globo is also reinforcing its expertise in both scripted and unscripted formats, with titles that have already captivated international audiences. Among the scripted formats are telenovelas like "Her Own Destiny," "The Life We Lead," and "Trail of Lies," as well as the series Justice. On the unscripted side, the company is bringing variety shows such as "Family Size" and "Making The Party," along with culinary competition shows Make It Sweet and What a Wonderful Cuisine Class. "Globo’s presence at MIP Africa highlights our commitment to the African continent, where we have built a strong track record. We want to broaden the reach of our stories and strengthen our connection with audiences. Titles like Queen of Myself and the new version of Anything Goes showcase the strength of our storytelling and its ability to resonate with different realities and cultures around the world,” said Rodrigo Nascimento, Head of International Sales - EMEA of Globo.
Côte Ouest, Globo's long-standing partner for over 25 years, is responsible for distributing these titles across the continent and beyond. "Just as Côte Ouest believed 25 years ago in the potential of Globo's content, which serves as a bridge between the peoples of Africa and Brazil, Côte Ouest will continue to add value to the content produced by Globo. By making them accessible to all audiences in Africa through dubbing these titles into both English and French, before offering them on various markets, Côte Ouest will use its expertise to ensure that these incredible stories reach African and European markets," added Jonathan Lett, Managing Director of Côte Ouest.
Highlights from the catalog include the new version of "Anything Goes," adapted by Manuela Dias (A Mother’s Love, Justice) and directed by Paulo Silvestrini (Never Give Up). Exploring themes such as ethics, character, and family relationships, the telenovela became a hit with Brazilian audiences and was Globo’s highest-grossing prime-time production. As part of the broadcaster’s 60th-anniversary celebrations, the show revisits one of Brazilian drama’s greatest classics, originally written by Gilberto Braga, Aguinaldo Silva, and Leonor Bassères and aired in 1988. "The inclusion of both scripted and unscripted formats in our portfolio reflects Globo’s focus on delivering versatile content that can be adapted to different markets. These are stories with strong creative foundations, ideal for local adaptations. We understand that our series and telenovelas go beyond the boundaries of a ‘finished product,’ and by offering them in various formats, we enable our partners to tailor them to their specific needs, opening up new commercial opportunities”, adds Isadora Filpi, Content Distribution & Partnerships of Globo.
