MIPTV announced that the Natural History event series "The Americas", featuring the debut narration on an unscripted entertainment series from Tom Hanks and music by two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, will be previewed at the forthcoming MIPTV in Cannes (8-10 April 2024).

The team will also offer behind-the-scenes insights on using revolutionary filmmaking technology to showcase the wonders, secrets and fragilities of Earth’s largest landmass (spanning 8,700 miles) to reveal extraordinary, untold wildlife stories. The session will be staged on Tuesday 9 April in the Palais des Festivals.

"The Americas" is executive produced by Mike Gunton for BBC Studios Natural History Unit, in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio. Distribution is handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution. It premieres on NBC in 2025.

The three-day MIPTV co-production and content market is set to welcome over 130 exhibitors, joining producers and buyers from an expected 80 countries in Cannes. The 2024 conference programme will additionally feature keynotes, exclusive analysis and future facing MIPLAB tracks focusing on key areas including Finance, AI and FAST (with the MIP GLOBAL FAST&AVOD Summit). International Series Festival CANNESERIES will again run alongside MIPTV from 5-10 April.
