RTVE announced during MIPTV its latest productions, including "La Ley del Mar", "Detective Touré", "la Moderna", "Operación Barrio Inglés", "4 estrellas" and "Esto no es Suecia". María Jesús Pérez, RTVE’s International Comercial Director, presented the catalog that includes fiction series, daily series, fiction for young viewers, entertainment and documentaries.
"Detective Touré", based on the novels by Jon Arretxe, stars an atypical detective who uses his wit and magnetic personality to solve each case in the most creative and unexpected way possible.
As for "La Ley del Mar", starring Blanca Portillo and Luis Tosar and based on real events, it tells the story of the fishing boat "Francisco y Catalina" from Santa Pola, which made headlines in 2006 as the first European boat to rescue sub-Saharan immigrants adrift in international Mediterranean waters.
Another new series at MIPTV will be "Operación Barrio Inglés" a suspense drama set in the 1940s Huelva against the backdrop of World War II with Aria Bedmar, Peter Vives, Rubén Cortada, Paco Tous, Juan Gea and María Morales leading a large international cast.
Also shown in Cannes is the daily series "la Moderna", which recreates the storylines between employees and customers of a distinguished tea room in the 1930s Madrid; and the contemporary romantic family comedy "4 estrellas".
"Esto no es Suecia", RTVE Play's first original fiction, narrates in a dramatic comedy key the contradiction that a couple of young parents encounter when it comes to protecting their children from the dangers of life. Created by Aina Clotet and Sergi Cameron, it is filmed in Catalan, Spanish, English and Swedish and has been awarded the Prix Europa for the best fiction series of 2023, and recognised at MIPCOM (Cannes) for its originality.
"Lucía en la Telaraña", the first part of the successful true crime series that follows the Lucía Garrido murder case and uncovered one of the largest and most complex corruption networks in Spain, returns for a second season to reveal the outcome of the investigation.
RTVE also offers a repertoire of international linear channels, which continue to gain subscribers around the world: the generalist channel TVE, the news channel 24 Horas, the fiction channel STAR TVE and the children"s channel Clan, which reaches millions of homes in 17 countries in the Americas, including the United States.
