Late last week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science canceled all in-person events and screenings for the remainder of the year. However, the Academy Museum in Los Angeles is still scheduled to open on 30th Sept. under a 50% maximum capacity limit and mask requirements.

The 94th annual Academy Awards ceremony's new air date is scheduled for 27th March 2022. The Wrap also revealed that Academy CEO Dawn Hudson was seeking to resume in-person global membership meetings in Spring 2022 if the circumstances are appropriate. Oscars voters will have the ability to view movies on the recently opened virtual Academy Screening Room featuring “Annette,” “Coming 2 America,” “The Mitchells vs. the Machines,” and “The Tomorrow War.”

Academy offices based in Los Angeles, New York, and London are on a hybrid schedule this fall but remain flexible as things change. “We do hope to see you at the museum and are looking forward to getting back to in-person Academy gatherings soon,” Hudson said. No plan changes were mentioned for the Governors Awards ceremony, currently set for15th January 2022. The abrupt schedule change is driven by a recent surge in Covid-related cases and hospitalizations.
