Realscreen Awards announces Program Competition Winners

The 2024 Realscreen Awards presented program competition trophies in 22 categories, along with the grand prize Awards of Excellence from four main categories (Competition, Lifestyle, Reality, and Non-Fiction content), as well as Best Short-Form Content, Best New Format, and the Dialog award.

This year's Realscreen Awards, hosted by entertainment journalist and TV host, Scott Evans, gathered leading international media executives gathered to recognize and celebrate non-fiction and unscripted entertainment works. The event was held at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel today, 30th January. “The industry focus on honing and evolving genres was evident across the field,” says Realscreen EVP Mary Maddever. “The work spanned 18 countries and was adjudicated by 35 separate juries with over 150 judges, so the programs that rose to the top show us where the global bar is now set.” 

The 2024 Realscreen Awards presented program competition trophies in 22 categories, along with the grand prize Awards of Excellence from four main categories (Competition, Lifestyle, Reality, and Non-Fiction content), as well as Best Short-Form Content, Best New Format, and the DIALOG (Diversity, Inclusion, Accountability, Learning, Opportunity and Growth) Award.  In addition to the unveiling of the 2024 program competition winners, highlights of the ceremony included the presentation to Hall of Fame inductees, HBO Documentary Films’ Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller, co-executive vice presidents of documentary and family programming, HBO. 

As determined by a Grand Jury comprised of category co-chairs the 2024 Awards of Excellence were awarded to the follow titles: In Competition, the selected title is "The Masked Singer" by FOX Alternative Entertainment / FOX. For Lifestyle is "Home Town Takeover" by RTR Media / HGTV. For the Non-Fiction category is "Nothing Compares" by Showtime Documentary Films, Tara Films,  Ard Mhacha Productions, Showtime. For Reality is "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning" by Universal Television Alternative Studio / Scout Productions / Paper Kite Productions / Peacock.

In addition, the DIALOG Award was presented to: The U.S. and the Holocaust / Florentine Films / PBS. The Hall of Fame inductees include HBO Documentary Films’ Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller, co-executive vice presidents of documentary and family programming, HBO. In the Non-Fiction - Sports Documentary, "The Redeem Team," produced by Olympic Channel, The Kennedy/Marshall Company, Mandalay Sports Media in association with, NBA Entertainment, USA Basketball, 59TH & Prairie Entertainment Uninterrupted for Netflix

For Non-Fiction - Archive-Based Programming is "Nazis at Nuremberg: The Lost Testimony"," oroduced by: Steve Rotfeld Productions for National Geographic International.
