Under the brand Animation from Spain, a large group of production companies will attend Cartoon Forum 2022, Europe's largest co-production forum for animated series. This time, the 33rd edition of this event for the animation sector will bring together more than a thousand professionals from 40 countries. In this year edition, that will be held from at the Pierre Baudis Congress Centre in Toulouse, the forum dedicates its usual Spotlight to Spain with numerous networking activities and visibility actions to promote Spanish companies and projects among the attendees, thanks to the support of ICEX and with the collaboration of Diboos (Spanish Federation of Animation and Visual Effects Producers Associations).
The Spotlight on Spain includes a special chapter in the official eCatalogue of the forum, which includes key data on the Spanish sector; the services offered by the Spain Audiovisual Bureau, a recently launched information tool. Also, a review of the tax incentives offered by the country and some of its regions for foreign production companies. Includes the contribution of RTVE and its kidscaster Clan as a catalyst for local productions; and the promotion and access to the Who is Who Animation from Spain 2022 guide, which compiles the production, distribution and technology services companies related to animation and VFX.
Two Spanish companies have been nominated for this year's Cartoon Tributes, which recognise the most outstanding European producers, investors / distributors and broadcasters in the field of animation: GoldBee in the category of best Investor/Distributor, and Peekaboo Animation as Producer or the Year. The Spanish presence will also be felt in the traditional project pitching sessions, the main attraction for buyers and producers attending Cartoon Forum, with a total of 8 production companies and talents presenting their proposals in search of financing and coproduction. The pitching sessions for Spanish projects are: “Best Friends Forever... Stranded! (Peekaboo Animation), “Polka Dot Zebra” (Sygnatia y Bro Cinema), “Zoey Oceans” (Studio Kimchi), “Firsts” (TV On Producciones y Tippo Creative Lab), “Bertie's Brainwaves” (In Efecto Atlantis y Flickerpix), “The Little Orchestra” (Mago Production, Apus Animación y Contenido y Chucho TV), “My Brother is a T-ReZ” (Mr. Klaus Studio y Lusco Fusco Animation), Mervyn's Album (Kick the Door Productions y BigB).
In addition, nine other Spanish production companies will showcase their latest projects in the promotional videos shared during the famous Croissant Shows and Coffee Shows: “The Book of Dreams” (3 Doubles Producciones), “Annunaki Files” (Barrios Producciones), “Magic Lilly” (DeAPlaneta Kids & Family), “Melbits” (Hampa Studio), “The Wawies” (Imagic Telecom), “Yanco, Dina and the Dinosaurs” (Koyi Talent), “Taste Buddies” (Pikkukala Barcelona), “Jasmine & Jambo” (Teidees Audiovisuals) y “Counting Sheep” (Verjim Animation Studio).
Animation from Spain will distribute the first issue of a limited collection of flipbooks, dedicated to the director Alberto Mielgo, winner of two Emmy and an Oscar awards this year. The official agenda also includes the Happy Hour themed with Spanish food and drinks; and the role of Animation from Spain as host of the farewell dinner. Through its Animation from Spain brand, ICEX will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the organizer Cartoon by supporting the next edition of Cartoon Springboard, the training seminar and pitching event for young talents in animation to be held from 25 to 27 October in Madrid.
