Last June 21st marks the start of the very first edition of the Italian Global Series Festival, taking place in the Italian cities of Rimini and Riccione through June 28. The event, created and organized by APA (Italian Audiovisual Producers Association) with the support of the Ministry of Culture, is curated by film critic and journalist Marco Spagnoli.

This Romagna-based event aims to celebrate one of the most beloved genres by audiences, serving as a space for international dialogue and promotion, where producers, creators, actors, and viewers come together to honor the best stories made for the small screen.

On June 21, the Festival has officially opened at the Corte degli Agostiniani in Rimini with one of its most highly anticipated events: “I Cesaroni – The Return.” The evening begun with a panel that marks the big comeback of the television family that made Italian fiction history. The event was featured Claudio Amendola—longtime lead actor and director of the new series—along with the full cast, including iconic characters and new faces. It was a unique opportunity to discover exclusive behind-the-scenes insights, watch never-before-seen content, and hear the story of a return that promises to resonate across generations.

Following that, audiences have treated to the world premiere of the first two episodes of "Hype"—a series chronicling the rise of three young rappers from Milan’s QT8 neighborhood as they navigate ambition, friendship, and the dangers of fame. This intense coming-of-age drama includes a collaboration with rap artist Ernia. The premiere was attended by Lorenzo Aloi, Martina Sini, Gabriele Careddu, Luigi Bruno, Luka Zunic, and directors Fabio Mollo, Domenico Croce, and Leonardo Ferrara.

Two very different titles, yet deeply connected by the same spirit: that of an Italian seriality that is capable of reinventing itself, engaging with the present, and boldly looking toward the future with creativity.
