Beta Group has celebrated a remarkable night at the Content Innovation Awards, closing out Mipcom Cannes 2023 with a double win: the Italian young adult drama “The Sea Beyond” took home Best Returning Scripted Series in the prestigious Grand Auditorium, while “The Swarm” won the award for Best New Scripted Series.

“The Swarm” (8x60’, Intaglio Films/ndF IP) was most recently successful at the prestigious German Television Awards, claiming the award for Best Miniseries. Produced by Intaglio Films’ Frank Doelger, ndF IP’s Managing Director Eric Welbers, “The Swarm” previously achieved phenomenal ratings across Europe. In fact, it was prime-time winner in several territories and most recently aired in US major network The CW.

“The Sea Beyond” (48x60’) will continue the celebrations at the Rome Film Festival on October 28 with the World Premiere of its fourth season. The Picomedia and Rai Fiction production centering around a group of young inmates in a Naples youth detention center shattered viewing records on Rai’s streaming service RaiPlay with over 220 million total views, and ranked in the Netflix Top 10 for more than 30 weeks in Italy. Currently, the series is airing in the United States on MHz Choice.

Beta Film handles international sales for “The Sea Beyond,” while “The Swarm” is jointly distributed together with ZDF Studios.
