"Dear You"
For this 27th edition of the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, European buyers will be able to discover the latest in French cinema and audiovisual productions, in brand-new screenings henceforth known as “Paris Screenings”. The screenings will be held in a single venue, the beautiful Pathé Parnasse cinema, freshly renovated.
For the audiovisual part of these “Paris Screenings”, screenings will take place from January 14 through 16. 7 French audiovisual distributors will unveil their latest fiction and documentary productions.
TV PROGRAMMES
• The fiction "A Common Interest", presented by Newen Connect tells the story of Rita Martinet, 50, who has spent 30 years married to Olivier, raising their family and handling the books for his auto repair shop. But her world flips when she finds out he’s been having an affair – with Olympe Costa, a 35-year-old executive at the luxury leather brand Vallières. Somehow, Rita ends up working as Olympe’s assistant. This odd couple – wife and mistress – forge an unexpected professional bond, just as Olivier tries to win back Rita’s heart.
• "The Black Widow", presented by Film & Picture, is a fiction inspired by true events that trays to decipher Who is Isabelle? A murderer or a housewife? That's what Captain Mathilde Delboscq, in charge of the investigation into Isabelle's husband's death, wants to understand.
• "The Crime Messenger" is a documentary presented by Studiofact Rights that tells the story of Jean-François Eap, inventor of the ultra-secure Sky ECC phone, and Catherine de Bolle, head of Europol, who represent opposing ideals: protecting individual freedoms versus ensuring safety through surveillance.
• The fiction "Deadline", presented by Balanga tells about Marion, a drug-addicted nurse, joins a palliative care unit to steal drugs and repay a €15,000 debt to a ruthless dealer. But the patients, with their final wishes, blackmail her into helping them, forcing her to confront her past and rediscover her emotions.
• The fiction "Dear You", featured by Mediawan Rights tells about Alma, who starts her new job as Guest Relation Manager at the Hotel Folie, where she has to juggle extravagant customer requests. That’s where she meets Alex, a sexy billionaire hotel guest who is launching a unique dating app: ‘Dear You’. As she juggles the challenges of her new job, a mysterious ‘Mister Nobody’ on the app, and a developing relationship with Alex, Alma finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected discoveries.
• The documentary series "Decoding Animal Culture — Best of" presented by Terranoa reveals that animals, too, have a culture. Animals share much more than the skills specific to their nature: they pass on common traditions.
• The fiction "George — Untamed Spirit", presented by France tv distribution tells the story of Aurore Dupin who fled Nohant for Paris to escape her violent husband and break free from the bourgeois shackles of her upbringing. In the bustling capital of the early 19th century, Aurore led a Bohemian life and published her very first novel, using a pseudonym; and so ‘George Sand’ was born. She went on to become the first female writer ever to make a living from her books, inflaming her readers’ passions and sealing a string of literary successes.
• The documentary "Notre-Dame Reborn", presented by Terranoa is a prime-time 52' film encapsulating the 5 years endeavor and challenges in securing, consolidating and restoring Notre-Dame, as it reopens to the public in December 2024. This event film produced for France 2 main channel started shooting in 2019 and thus encompasses the entire history of restoration.
